Ubud Yoga House is a drop-in yoga studio set among the rice fields just outside central Ubud, with an open-air shala overlooking the paddies and a bamboo studio with jungle views. Its 200-hour teacher training is deliberately intimate — a maximum of 12 students — and is led by the studio's owner, Sheila Burch, who draws on around 30 years of teaching experience, alongside the studio's resident teachers, most of them Indonesian.
The school describes the course as inclusive and suitable for every body, all levels and ages, with a secular, open-minded approach that draws on science, philosophy and psychology as well as the classical yoga traditions. On completion, graduates receive a 200-hour certificate that the school says is Yoga Alliance-recognised.
Monday to Saturday, with Sundays off: morning meditation and journalling from 7:00, yoga practice 7:30–9:00, breakfast, an asana lab or anatomy session, a long lunch break, an afternoon workshop on philosophy, and a final yoga or breathwork session ending at 5:30pm.
Next intake: 8–28 November 2026. The school runs several intakes a year (2026 courses also ran in April and August), so check its site for 2027 dates.
Both packages include the course fee, training manual, certificate and a daily set breakfast for trainees at the neighbourhood café Pukako (including the day off). A US$500 deposit secures a place; the school does not give refunds but lets you transfer payments to a future training.
