Just Yoga Academy — 200-Hour Modular YTT, Pluit, North Jakarta

About the Program

Just Yoga Academy is the education arm of Just Yoga, a Jakarta-based studio group with branches across the city and in Surabaya. The academy describes itself as a Yoga Alliance (USA) Registered Yoga School and says it is the only yoga academy in Indonesia approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

Unlike the residential intensives common in Bali, the 200-hour course is taken as five modules, in order, alongside your own practice. Students must attend every module and pass a final exam; graduates receive the academy's certificate and are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as RYT 200. A 300-hour advanced programme and 50-hour modules that can be taken separately are also offered.

Who It Suits

• Jakarta residents who want to qualify without taking a month off work
• Students with at least six months of regular practice (recommended, not required)
• Those who want a classroom-based course in a city studio rather than a retreat setting

Curriculum Highlights

• Hatha and Vinyasa teaching styles
• Asana with Sanskrit names to international standards
• Yoga history, philosophy and science
• Anatomy of the skeletal and muscular systems
• Teaching practice as lead instructor, assisting, observation and hands-on adjustments, with feedback throughout
• A teaching work placement before the final assessment

Trainers are recruited with a minimum of a master's degree in yogic science and five to ten years' international teaching experience. Course materials, set books, a jala neti pot, T-shirt and syllabus book are provided.
